The Blair School of Art is proud to host guest instructor Gerald Mendez, who will share his different techniques, special effects and secrets learned in over 25 years of professional experience as an airbrush artist.
Illustration of Detail and Accuracy.
Learn detail and control techniques, the proper use of the airbrush to apply the right combination of the key factors in the airbrushing, air pressure, distance and control of the airbrush. Focus will be on freehand fundamental strokes, volume (light and shadow), gradient, and accuracy. We start painting a miniature monochrome illustration with no margin for error, which ends in an interesting composition of fantasy art on full size on illustration paper. Note: This illustration will be painted with airbrushing techniques completely freehand without masking, erasing or correction techniques.
Texture-‐FX Tips & Tricks.
This segment features the exploration of several airbrushing techniques, using different kind of masks, applying different textures, tricks, and special effects, with the use of many templates including "Texture FX" and "Texture FX-2."
Fantasy Art Illustration
Gerald will explore different methods of concept development for a Fantasy Illustration style to create a Fantasy Art Illustration while considering key aspects of originality and personal style, implementing many airbrushing techniques learned during the workshop.
Skill level required - All levels accepted but...
